Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says he went to the sideline to help inspire the team after quarterback Tony Romo was injured.

While it doesn’t happen every game, more often than not you’ll find Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones making his way down to the field where he often waits out the final few minutes of the game.

He generally keeps pretty quiet though there was controversy on Monday when Jones traveled to the sideline and informed head coach Jason Garrett that Tony Romo was reportedly find to return to the game after injury.

Many questioned if it was actually Jones all but demanding his start quarterback return to the game since he was cleared but Garrett suggested that wasn’t the case. As for Jones, he suggests he’s on the sidelines to inspire.

“No. 1, I wanted to go down there and do what I could, look our guys in the eye, look at them, inspire them to overcome Romo not being out there and overcome what I thought was a critical time,” Jones said. “First of all, I’ve been down there hundreds of ball games. Everyone that follows it has certainly seen it, either criticized it or whatever or lived with it.”

It seems questionable to think the Dallas Cowboys would need Jerry Jones on the sidelines to be ‘inspired’ though it’s not exactly as if this is a new practice for the somewhat flamboyant owner. Hell, he’s far from the only owner to stand on the sideline so it’s difficult to begrudge him for such.

His reasoning might sound a little suspect but it’s Jerry Jones’ team and if he wants to stand on the Dallas Cowboys’ sideline, he has every right. You’d like to hope he stayed in that role and didn’t interfere with any player/game decisions however.
