Paramount Pictures is pushing ahead with the second and third installments in its rebooted Terminator franchise, which kicks off next summer with Terminator: Genisys on July 1.
Terminator 2 has been dated for May 19, 2017, followed by Terminator 3 on June 29, 2018. The two films will be filmed back to back, provided Genisys works, according to insiders.
Paramount is partnering with Skydance Productions on the trilogy. Alan Taylor is directing Genisys, which returns Arnold Schwarzenegger in the title role. Newcomers include Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke and Jai Courtney.
The studio also announced it will launch Rupert Wyatt‘s crime drama The Gambler, starring Mark Wahlberg, in a limited run on Dec. 19, 2014, and then expand nationwide Jan. 1. The move indicates that the film could have awards potential.
Also starring Brie Larson, Michael K. Williams and Jessica Lange, The Gambler is based on the 1974 film writen by James Toback. William Monahan wrote the adapted script.
