Melissa McCarthy is just like everyone else: excited Gilmore Girls is coming back.

“I’m actually thrilled that it’s happening,” she told E! in a new interview. “I loved that show, and I think the fans for that show are super loyal and great, and I will watch every single one of them.”

McCarthy played Sookie on the beloved series, and called her time in Stars Hollow “really great.”

“I was proud of that show,” she added.

After Netflix announced it was reviving Gilmore Girls, McCarthy said she wasn’t asked to return but wished the cast “all the best!”

“I didn’t actually get asked to do it,” she explained to E! of her absence. “I think they thought I was busy, and by the time it did come up, then I actually was.”

McCarthy is one of the only cast members from the original show to not return for the continuation. Stars Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Scott Patterson, Kelly Bishop, Matt Czuchry, Milo Ventimiglia, Jared Padalecki, Sean Gunn, and Keiko Agena, among others, are all set to star in the Netflix show. The new Gilmore Girls will consist of four 90-minute episodes, each taking place during a season and set in the present day.
