Filled to the brim with colorful illustrations and diagrams,easy-to-understand infographics, and illuminating photos, Water Wow! is a dazzling and fun introduction to the importance of water in our lives.
'Water Wow!' is a nonfiction book about water for kids written in an accessible infographic format. My review copy was about the first third of the book, but it was enough to give me a sense of the book.
Through illustrations and facts in the book, we learn why ice floats, and why water is blue in lakes, but not in a water glass. We see how much water we actually have on the Earth, and how little is drinkable. We see the theories of where our water came from, and how it cycles in our atmosphere.
The facts seem good, and even though they talk about how limited the water is, I don't think it's overly scary. The illustrations are bright and interesting and terms are brought down to a level that a school age child would understand. I always like non-fiction books when I was young, and this one would have appealed to my younger self.
I received a review copy of this ebook from Annick Press Ltd. and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.
A goal of mine for this blog is to review more nonfiction titles for children, especially since so many of my students love nonfiction books! We just finished our Water Cycle unit at school, so I’m so excited to take a look at Water Wow! from Annick Press Ltd.
Water Wow! is the type of book that will captivate students who love interesting facts. The book includes many pictures and graphics that make tricky water cycle concepts more concrete. Additionally, the text is clear and engaging.
I can absolutely predict which page of this book would be my students’ favorite. The “Extreme Weather” page includes fun facts about the driest place on earth, the only active undersea river, and more. Students would love seeing these pictures and sharing these fun facts.
With fascinating facts and detailed images, Water Wow! definitely deserves a place on classroom bookshelves.
A highly recommended guide to teach about water! I did not completely understand the "visual exploration" part of the title until I opened up the book. It's entirely infographic-type diagrams full of interesting information.
This would be an excellent resource to use when teaching kids about the water cycle, weather or ecology, and also a good model to explain infographics and how to read and create them.
I suspect I'll be using this multiple times with my homeschooled children, and would recommend it to anyone who teaches.
I received a review copy from NetGalley; all opinions are my own.
Water Wow! is an adorable nonfiction text that young curious minds will enjoy. Unlike other water books, this book gave several fun facts and interesting information in an easy to follow format.. The book covered topics that included the relation between climate change and water, different types of water (fresh/rain/surface), water in different states of matter, water/rain information based on different parts of the world and much more! This book can be used as a great resource in the classroom! *I received an ARC via NetGalley & Annick Press LTD in exchange for a review.

Fantastic book all about water! I've just read this book myself and found it thoroughly informative and engaging. Even I managed to learn a few things from it! My class will soon be studying water, I'm planning on purchasing a few copies for my little learners as my young nephew loved all the visuals in the book. It isn't over filled with text and instead is bright and colourful. I will be adding this to my shelf at school and at home! I would recommend this book for any educator, parent, or child who simply loves reading the facts.
Thorough. The writing is strong, making clear abstract concepts like water molecules having negative and positive charges and so forth. Infographics – a lot – but supportive of text and not overwhelming. Great mentor text for writing and creating infographics. Room for conversation about a text's structure and how that contributes to understanding of the text.
