Wayward Pines: Melissa Leo, Carla Gugino returning in season 2

Melissa Leo and Carla Gugino have booked a return trip to Wayward Pines for season 2, EW has learned.

The second season will pick up in the wake of the events of the finale, in which the adults got out from under David Pilcher’s (Toby Jones) reign only to be frozen in time again by the First Generation of children — the fate met by both former Secret Service Agent Kate Hewson (Gugino) and Pilcher’s sister, Pam (Leo).

In season 2, a new arrival (Jason Patric) in Wayward Pines finds himself in the middle of a serious rebellion, as the residents battle over how to preserve the endangered human race.

Details on their returns are being kept under wraps, but both will guest-star in at least one episode early in the season. Gugino first teased her return on Twitter Wednesday.

Wayward Pines is expected to return this summer on Fox.
