"Angry Birds never took over Star Wars characters, The Old Republic isn’t much more than entirely made up, and Starkiller was never Vader’s apprentice. This also means, the entire plot of the forthcoming Episode VII film could be something entirely different from what people are expecting. Ultimately though, what we really care about here at Stealthy Box, is figuring out how this will affect the games specifcally." - David Jagneaux

In a Game Rant interview, One Fenix Down's developer talks about how '90s RPGs influenced the development, story, and world of the game.
The protagonist in Sega and Atlus' upcoming role-playing game, Metaphor: ReFantazio, will not be a "blank slate".
I just want a new KOTOR or a game like 1313.
Wow, I didn't realize they had completely discarded the EU. I guess it makes sense in a lot of ways, I just hope there are plans to keep some of the characters at least. Mara Jade for example would make a great character for the new movies as would Grand Admiral Thrawn.
Still, even the Clone Wars series uses the EU to an extent, in season 6 there was a brief appearance from Darth Bane so should be interesting to see how it all plays out.
"Discarding" the EU could be a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it.
Lucas' approach to the EU was very haphazard. The man practically invented the "retconn". Everything was canon until Lucas uses his horrible ideas and messes everything up.
Someone taking control of the license and making everyone follow what is canon could help a lot. Of course, if Disney has horrible ideas, well...
The future of Star Wars depends on Disney, and I honestly don't have a clue about what they will do.
I really do hope they try and consider some of the previous works as canon. Or at least take inspiration from them.
I believe some are going a bit too far with what's implicated. Since so many of the games don't take place post-Return of the Jedi, they're not all guaranteed to be on the canon chopping block. Same with EU.
In fact, since all content within The Clone Wars TV series has been determined to be canon, someone like Darth Bane must exist due to one of the Lost Missions episodes acknowledging him and starting the Rule of Two.
Star wars is just such aclassic. Good thing
