Simpson: American Crime Story ended its 10-episode run as cable’s most-watched new show of the year, FX announced Tuesday. Ryan Murphy’s miniseries first premiered Feb. 12 and concluded April 5. The show — starring Sarah Paulson, Cuba Gooding Jr., Sterling K. Brown, David Schwimmer, John Travolta, and Courtney B. Vance — instantly garnered critical acclaim: the first season has a 97 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, and EW’s Jeff Jensen called it “an enthralling recollection of a tragic mess with a long legacy” in his grade-A review. According to the Nielsen Company, viewers have spent 143.9 million hours watching the program, which is the equivalent of 259 billion digital views. Aside from being 2016’s most-watched new cable show, The People v. O.J. also finished out its run as the year’s No. 2 cable series in all demographics, behind The Walking Dead, and the No. 6 television series in the coveted 18-34 demographic.
