The Mind of Mr. Soames

The Mind of Mr. Soames ★★★

“Yes, but you won't be teaching control. You'll be imposing it.” - Dr. Bergen (Robert Vaughn)

Comatose since being born, 30 year John Soames is brought back to the world of the living. Only the two doctors responsible for his development, have differing opinions on how to introduce & education him into the real world.

'The Mind of Mr. Soames' is an interesting mix of sociology & psychological thriller. I'd recommend it, but its something of an also ran movie. For everything it does really well, chiefly the plot & its very human central performances from Terence Stamp as the adult/baby John Soames and Nigel Davenport & Robert Vaughn as his doctors, it falls a little short of reaching its potential.

[Personal Reasons For Remembering]
The heavy learning montage, that leaves John tired and uninterested in his lessons. And Johns Escape to Victory moment, when he trespasses into a school playground to play ball with the small kids.
