Porsche’s Sub-Panamera Model Will Get Tesla Model S-Rivaling EV Variant

We have a distinct hunch that the upcoming mid-sized model from Porsche, currently known as the Pajun, will be a hugely desirable car.

One thing that would make it even more so, or at least give it an even better image, would be a fully-electric version (since plug-in hybrids are so 2013), and that’s exactly what it’s getting, according to reports.

Autocar says the model, which would go up against the likes of the BMW 5-Series and Maserati Ghibli, would obviously feature a full range of petrol and diesel power plants, plus an all-electric powertrain.

Apparently, the tech it’s said to employ would challenge the (now established) Tesla Model S for both range and outright go, though the latest P85D model is already supercar fast – the performance part of the statement seems a bit unjustified, but hey, you can never have enough range in an EV…

Nevertheless, the source report insists that through the use of lightweight hot-formed materials, the Pajun EV would be lighter than the Model S and thus, with comparable power output, would be faster.

No word on even a rough time frame for when the Pajun and its electric derivative will debut, though.
