"Garden of Sonic Delights" Brings Arts Award to Caramoor

Carmoor Center for Music and Art will be honored April 4 by ArtsWestchester at its annual Art Awards Luncheon.

The musical venue wins the Innovator Award for "In the Garden of Sonic Delights," a large-scale outdoor sound art exhibition in development for more than five years that features 15 new site specific works by nationally-recognized artists including Laurie Anderson, Bruce Odland and Bob Bieleck.

(In addition to Caramoor the exhibition will run at Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art in Peekskill, Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville, Lyndhurst in Tarrytown, the Neuberger Museum of Art at Purchase College Purchase, and Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture in Pocantico Hills.)

The luncheon, to be held this year at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown, brings together officials, arts enthusiasts and supporters to recognize eight institutions or organizations that have contributed significantly to cultural life in Westchester County.

It is sponsored by First Niagara Bank.

Quoted in the newsletter, ArtsWestchester's CEO Janet Langsam called the event their version of the Academy Awards.

"This is our chance to take note of the abundant talent in Westchester and recognize those who have made a significant impact on the arts in our community," Langsam said.
