Hey, Delta: There are no giraffes in Ghana!

The airline got heat Monday for a photo it tweeted after the United States' win over Ghana in the World Cup.

The photo showed the final score of the game, 2-1, with a photo of the Statue of Liberty next to the U.S. score and a photo of a giraffe next to the Ghana score.

Tweeters called out Delta for its mistake.

One person tweeted, "Can't say I'm too surprised Delta doesn't know where giraffes live. They think Atlanta is on the way to everywhere."

Another tweeter asked, "With ALL the #Africa traffic & business you get, you think #Gha is only a SAFARI w giraffes??"

Delta removed the giraffe tweet, and tweeted an apology, "We're sorry for our choice of photo in our previous tweet. Best of luck to all teams."

Another oops: Delta's initial apology had used the word "precious" instead of "previous," Business Insider reports.
