Boosting the domestic economy is as easy as the click of a mouse with The MiA Project, a new online marketplace that exclusively stocks goods made in America (hence the name). The site, which launches today, was founded by Micha Thomas, a former creative marketing director for an independent music-booking agency, and Jaime Lawson, whose fashion background includes a stint at Rodarte and her own bridal accessory line, Bleu Garters. The L.A.-based duo have curated a roster of designers and makers both traditional (Pendleton Woolen Mills) and new (Earth tu Face, Baggu) and will be telling some of their stories through studio visits and other editorial content on the site. The vast retail component, with price points ranging from $10 to about $3,000, includes men’s, women’s and children’s casual wear and accessories, decorative items for the home, an organic beauty apothecary and such only-in-America gifts as an aromatherapeutic “throne spray” (if you have to ask…). It’s an assortment as diverse and democratic as the U.S. itself.
