Few changes in federal agent's retrial testimony

HONOLULU (AP) - The federal agent charged with murder in a Waikiki fast-food restaurant shooting is testifying at his retrial.

Special Agent Christopher Deedy tells the judge he has no hesitation about his decision to take the stand again.

Deedy is facing a retrial nearly a year after the first trial against him ended in a mistrial when jurors deadlocked.

So far, his testimony sounds similar to last year's.

He testified last year that he shot and killed Kollin Elderts in self-defense during an altercation inside the McDonald's.

The 30-year-old Deedy began his testimony Tuesday by discussing his background and career.

He says that on Nov. 5, 2011, he was thinking of his training that taught him to intervene in potentially dangerous situations.

He'll continue testifying Wednesday about what happened in the McDonald's.
