The Jericho story continues!
For those unlucky enough not to be familiar with it, Jericho is the 2006-2008 television show about the aftermath of a nuclear event in the United States and its effect on a group of people in a small Kansas town.
Season Four begins with Jake Green and Robert Hawkins returning to Jericho, for which both are extremely happy. But things in the outside world are anything but peaceful. The country itself is neatly split into two rival camps by the Mississippi River; the eastern section of the country calling itself the USA, while the western states are now called the Allied States of America. While separate nations, both the USA and ASA have the same problems: food is scarce, relief aid is sporadic, lawlessness is epidemic, a plague has begun to spread, and a war with the other is looming. So while our two heroes have succeeded in their mission from Season Three, they find themselves trapped into a political plot that could reveal the villains behind the September nuclear bombings, topple a government, start a revolution, and get everyone they care about killed!
Like the previous comic collection, Jericho: Season Four is plotted by the creative team behind the television series. This consistence in writing remains the strong point of this collection, as the story continues without any deviation from the previous plot lines with all the familiar characters included in the goings-on in Jericho. And while the tone of the story changes a bit, it is still 100% Jericho with several lingering mysteries beginning to be answered.
There were a couple of problems with this collection, however.
One, the artwork was not a strong point. One issue would be great, and then the next would feature a different artist who might not live up to the high stands this series has exhibited in the past. In fact, there were a few times in the story where the heads of the characters appeared to be “photoshopped” onto a body. Something that did not work at all and really ruined the whole visual presentation. Lucky, though, these problems were sporadic enough not to derail the story.
Two, the story was slow. There are lots of conversations between characters, lots of plotting what to do next, but not much action. Not that dialogue is a bad thing, mind you, but here the talking seemed to be setting up plots for future stories rather than tying into what was currently going on.
With those criticism outlined, however, a Jericho story with problems is better than no Jericho story at all, so I’d encourage any fan of the show to pick this one up. And for those unfamiliar with the show, get on Netflix and try it out!

I enjoyed this book just as much as Jericho Season 3. You can go read my review for that book and my comments would be the same for this one. I am still not fond of the graphic novel format. But if you loved the TV series, you will love these two books. SPOILER -- Season 4 does not wrap up the story. That's all I will say about the plot. It ends with a cliffhanger/"to be continued". I went and looked and there is no Season 5 out and I think this book is 2 years old. I did some digging and found an article stating there is a rumor the book has been finished but CBS has held up its release because they are looking to revive the show. Of course we know everything on the internet is true!! But that would be a welcome thing for all of us Jericho fans. I still can't believe this show was ended so soon. The writers said they had 10 seasons worth of material. Anyway, I am looking forward to the next chapter, whether it be another book or seeing the series back on TV.

Since this book is five years old already and the show was cancelled 11 years ago I was expecting a satisfying wrap up to the story. Sadly, that's not what this book offers.
What it offers is just a little bit more of the story. It was nice to see the characters of the show again but if it wasn't for them and the good memories of the show, this comic book wouldn't offer much if anything at all.
Compared to Jericho Season 3 the artwork in this one was changing from one volume to the next which was not pleasant to see.
To summarize, the artwork is not great, the story doesn't really go anywhere but I still liked it enough because it brought back memories of one of my favorite shows.
What it offers is just a little bit more of the story. It was nice to see the characters of the show again but if it wasn't for them and the good memories of the show, this comic book wouldn't offer much if anything at all.

A brilliant continuation to where 'Jericho Season 4 (Jericho Graphic Novels #1)' finished. It was well written and the plot holds true to the original story we saw in the original two series which were televised. This graphic novel was brilliantly illustrated. I loved every moment of this novel, I highly recommend this if you are a fan of the Jericho series.

I really have enjoyed the Jericho series. I wish it was still put into a tv show. The characters are awesome, believable. The plot rings a bell, especially in today's climate of chaos and unrest.

I was a big fan of the show JERICHO back in the day, but it's been so long since I've watched it I don't remember a lot of what was going on when the show ended. I think I would have enjoyed this one more if I had, but from what I remember this wasn't a bad continuation of the series.
I think it's cool that there's a trend of continuing canceled tv shows in comics, especially since in most cases it's considered officially canon. Comics can be produced for a fraction of what a tv show costs, so it's a great way to keep storylines moving.
If you're a fan of the tv series and hated that it ended on a cliffhanger, the graphic novels are definitely for you. However, at the expense of a spoiler I will say this volume ends on a bit of a cliffhanger as well, and it's doubtful we'll see a Season 5 graphic novel, so use your own discretion with reading this one.

Continues the story started in the previous graphic novel with the Jake and Mr. Hawkins trying to take down the ASA as they are in a cat-and-mouse intrigue with John Smith who launched the September Attacks. Meanwhile, Stanley and Mimi get caught up with militia from Texas. Like the previous one, it is a decent graphic novel for fans of the show that want to know what happens next. I’m not sure that I need to keep reading as it doesn’t seem like there’s enough story to keep me interested. It was an enjoyable, quick read. Grade: C-

i read the majority of this book in 2021 but i’m glad i finally finished it. (i read it as an ebook on apple books btw.) jericho is one of my favorite tv shows of all time and i’m so happy they continued the tv series as a book series. the previous book was better than this one but this was still really good. i loved seeing the progression of emilake’s (emily and jake, get it? lol) relationship. if you haven’t seen jericho watch it plsss

This was not the way I'd hoped this story would see itself out. Inconsistent writing, and worst of all, inconsitent artwork, make this forgettable at best and irksome at worst.

Aw man! This thing ended on a cliffhanger and there's no Season 5 published yet! What am I going to do? Why does this series keep me dangling even ten years later? If you noticed, I did post a review on Season 4 yesterday, and my thoughts are pretty much the same. The only changes I would say to that review is that there was an artist who did one of the chapters' graphics, who decided to make the heads look way too big for the bodies, and I wasn't too keen on that. However, the story was very well done. We learned more about the reasons for the original nuclear attacks, got some great action in there, and even a possible death. I was pleased with the direction the story is going, and very invested in the characters, especially Jake and Robert, who are on par with other great action duos like Sherlock and Watson, Starsky and Hutch, and Murtaugh and Riggs. Recommended for fans of the original TV series.

'Jericho Season 4 (Jericho Graphic Novels #2)' is a continuation of the cancelled television show. In this day and age, TV shows don't have to die. They can live on in graphic novel form. This one is overseen by the original writing staff, so there is consistency in the story, but there are a variety of artists used, so the artwork turns into something more inconsistent.
Jake and Hawkins are happy to be back in Jericho, but all is not peaceful. There is a new man in town who may know more than he is letting people know. There are big military buildups and trust issues, and lots of conversations in kitchens, but the whole thing feels like a setup for further graphic novels. Things move forward, but it's not a complete story arc, nor even what I would call a TV "season." The length and content don't justify calling it that. To the writers credit, there are a lot of characters to track and write and carry forward so perhaps I'm being too nit-picky.
The art does change styles and sometimes it seems like badly rotoscoped versions of the characters with weird body proportions. It would be nice to have a more consistent approach to the art instead of changing artists every issue.

If I were to make a list of the TV shows I think were ended too soon, Jericho would definitely be in the top ten. This post-apocalyptic show lasted for only two seasons, 2006 – 2008, before being cancelled for lack of an audience. However, those fans it had were loyal and it has become a cult classic. To satisfy fans, it’s been turned into a series of graphic novels and continues the story from where the show left off.

"Jericho" Season 4 is the second graphic novel continuation of the mid-2000's cult thriller/drama TV series. The story that unfolds becomes more mysterious and the reveals more troublesome. Key characters are further developed and the writing quality is much improved from the previous graphic novel (probably largely due to there being too many cooks in the kitchen and now there being only one). The art is widely inconsistent in both quality and style due to there being a few different artists. I'm not sure why they didn't aim for more consistency. Some of the art is really good, much of it is above average and the rest is rather mediocre (at times people have odd body proportions etc). Several elements of the last chapter are underwhelming or old-hat. There's definitely room for improvement, more in the art than writing department, but Season 4 still remains an enjoyable and welcome addition to the series.
Note: Season 3 consisted of six chapters and Season 4 consists of five chapters. In total, the 11 chapters are probably equivalent to six TV episodes.

If you weren't a fan of the tv series Jericho, I suggest you start withe the first volume of Jericho, otherwise you may not understand everything in this graphic novel. The heroes Jake and Hawkins are attempting to close down the Allied States of America government due to its corruption. The government was involved withe terrorists who did the nuclear attack on several cities. Jake and Hawkins want to broadcast this information so that people will know about what really happened. Will they be successful?
There is intrigue and lots of action in this season 4. Many questions are answered but not all. The art work was great. I can't wait for the next volume!

Nuts!
Unfortunately the continual delay in the release of this graphic novel only increased my anticipation. Thus when it didn't completely deliver, I was disappointed.
Season 4 graphic novel costs the same as Season 3 but the reader is given one less story. The storyline that does cross the 5 comics seems to be more of a "set-up" for future excitement. There are a few interesting developments but for the most part it just plods along, forcing us to wait for Season 5 - for those that are willing.
Some of the art work was super - definitely capturing the characters fans are familiar with. However, some of it is poor - leaving questions as to who the person is (context clues provide the answer) as well as just strange looking scenes.

Edge of the seat storytelling, lifelike characters, numerous plot twists, and moral complexity make the comic continuation of "Jericho" a breathtaking read. Artwork is lifelike, capturing the look and feel of the show's characters. The numerous motivations of the characters--revenge, love, principle, survival--give "Jericho" a very realistic (and very frightening) what-if tone, turning the world upside down yet making it instantly recognizable.

I haven't read a lot of graphic novels before this one, but if you love the TV show Jericho like I do, then you should definitely check this book out. I was pleasantly surprised. The illustrations are great and the plot is a continuation of the two TV seasons as well as one previous graphic novel. Nice to see the cult phenomenon in a different medium.

I've been a long time fan of Jericho. With there being a year between graphic novels, I am becoming increasingly disappointed. The writing is mediocre and the story line is just taking to long to complete.

The lack of consistency was the biggest downfall for this volume, the story was OK but it really wasn't "Jericho" enough compare to the original show.

I'm a massive Jericho fan, but this didn't cut the mustard unfortunately. A real shame! And to find it was to be continued and Season 5 hasn't been published... even worse!

Jericho remains one of my favourite series largely because they did the human element so well. The two graphic novels continue that, there is no black and white only shade of grey (a cliche but accurate). Season 4 reveals more about the motivation for the September attacks, Jericho puts themselves on everyone's radar again and there are some very human (read normal) moments. Moments of happiness and moments of sadness. Also, why must we have more bombs? That said this is a wonderful continuation in line with the rest of works.
Side note there are yet more rumours of a reboot. It is being used to explain delays in publication of season 5 and honestly MIA key people. I think that boat has sailed. I am happy with this format. I think 10 years is a long time especially when the whole show was only supposed to take place over a matter of what a couple of years. People may think they want it back but I think that it would require recasting or a serious justification for how everyone has aged 10 years.
