BLACK BAYOU: Bass fishing has been fair on soft plastics. Crappie have been slow to fair on shiners and jigs. For latest information, contact the Honey Hole at 323-8707.

CANEY LAKE: Because of the fluctuation in water temperatures, the bass have not committed to moving deep just yet. A good many are being caught fairly shallow on soft plastics, Carolina and drop-shot rigs along with Rat-L-Traps. Look for them to begin moving deep once cold weather is here to stay and they'll begin hitting jigging spoons, Alabama rigs and tail spinners. Same thing applies to crappie and yellow bass. Some crappie are beginning to settle in around deep brush and are hitting shiners and jigs. For more information, call Brown's Landing at 259-6649 or the Honey Hole at 323-8707.

LAKE CLAIBORNE: Fishing has slowed down quite a bit because of a 2-3 foot rise on the lake due to recent heavy rains. However, a few mixed catches of crappie and barfish have been made in fairly deep water on shiners and jigs. The bass fishing is on the slow side and there have been no reports of catfish or stripers being caught. For latest information, call Tim Lofton at Kel's Cove at 927-2264.

LAKE D'ARBONNE: Some crappie catches are being reported fished the channel edges down to 19-20 feet deep. Jigs working best have been the Monkey Milk, Glitter Critter and Popsicle patterns. Bass are fair fishing jigs, Rat-L-Traps and Brush Hogs in the sloughs. Bream are slow but you can always catch catfish on cold worms or night crawlers fished on the flats. For latest information, call Anderson's Sport Center at 368-9669 or the Honey Hole at 323-8707.

OUACHITA RIVER: The river is high and rising and there are no fishing reports this week. For latest reports, call the Honey Hole at 323-8707.

CHENIERE LAKE: Crappie fishing continues to be best fishing shiners or jigs in the woods; the fish have not made their move to the deeper water just yet. A few bass have been caught on soft plastics and spinners. For current information, call the Honey Hole at 323-8707.

LAKE POVERTY POINT: Crappie fishing has been better in the mornings on the south end of the lake while better catches are being made around the boat slips at the marina in the afternoons on shiners and jigs. Catfishing is good on cut shad and night crawlers. No report on bass. For latest reports, call Poverty Point Marina at 878-0101.

LAKE ST. JOHN: Crappie fishing has slightly improved this week on shiners and jjigs. Bass and catfish are fair. Call Ken Mahoney at 757-0013 for latest reports and fishing conditions.

LAKE YUCATAN: The water is rising and access to the lake is limited if not impossible. For camper trailer rentals on the lake or for latest fishing information, call James Lachney at 467-2259.
