Teen Made To Wear "Gaytard" Name Tag: Today In Gay

Tyler Brandt, 16, says his manager at Taco John's in Yankton was abusive from day one, but really upped the ante this week when he gave Brandt a name tag that read "Gaytard." "I put it on because I didn't want to upset him and I felt that if I did do anything to upset him, it would cause me to lose my job because he'd be looking for ways to fire me," said Brandt.

But Yankton Taco John manager John Scott says Brandt chose the name tag himself, as a kind of joke. "Everyone has a nickname here, and he wanted a nickname. [Gaytard is] what he picked for a nickname," insists Scott. "He wasn’t forced to wear the name tag. He asked the manager to make that name tag for him. He handed it to him. He didn’t tell him he had to wear it. He put it on himself and created the situation... The manager didn’t force him to do anything.”

On Tuesday, Brandt went into the establishment with his boyfriend and quit—but kept the name tag as evidence in a possible lawsuit.

'It was uncomfortable for me... In Episode 106, my boyfriend (played by openly gay actor Luke Macfarlane) comes and I don't like kissing guys, it doesn't do anything for me."

Considering The Night Shift is a summer-replacement series, Brendan, we're pretty sure you won't have to do it much longer.

"It's really uncomfortable, but you gotta get past that, his story is bigger than that," Fehr continued. "The emotion behind that is so much bigger that that. I was scared, petrified in a lot of ways, but I wanted to push myself and see if I could do it.'

Jeez, it was just a kiss.

The mini-cupcake purveyor has introduced the limited-edition Wildberry Pride cupcake (left), made with wildberry cake, vanilla icing and a rainbow-berry candy topping.

"We're always looking for ways to inspire others to be unique and colorful; it's something we're passionate about," says founder Melissa Ben-Ishay. "Since that is also important to the LGBT community, I wanted to create a cupcake that celebrates those shared values."

Melissa, if you keep baking, we'll keep buying.

The Wildberry Pride cupcake is on sale at Baked By Melissa shops from June 25th to June 29, but you can also order them on on the company website.

"A number of states, including my home state of Maine, have now legalized same-sex marriage, and I agree with that decision,' Collins told the Bangor Daily News. "Nearly 44 percent of Americans live in a state where same-sex couples can be legally married, and I believe this number will only continue to grow."

She follows in the footsteps of Republican Senators Rob Portman (R-OH), Mark Kirk (R-IL) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AL)
