“With gestures, the reality was the usage was very, very low,” says Ybarra. “So for now, we've cut that from the New Xbox One Experience. So when we launch on the 12th, they won't be in the product.”Despite the lack of Kinect interactions – which let users ‘swipe’ planes from left to right – Ybarra says the team will be monitoring user feedback, and should users want the feature back, there’s a possibility it’ll return in the future.
As well as an easier to navigate UI, the New Xbox Experience brings with it backwards compatibility for select Xbox 360 titles, including the Gears of War trilogy, Borderlands, and at some point in the future, Halo Reach, Halo Wars, Black Ops, the BioShock Series, and Skate 3.
