It seems that Nissan officials weren’t lying when they said, at the reveal of the two iDX concepts, that they were looking to put one of them into production.

After the unveiling, we were inundated with news and reports that saw the models either closer or further from the production line; this latest one brings more uncertainty to the table, claiming that the chance of the model getting made is fifty percent.

Australia’s CarAdvice had the chance to talk to Nissan’s corporate VP, Keno Kato. In regards to the iDX, he was quoted as saying: “It is under preparation and development. [The project is] 50/50 until some milestone to decide ‘go!’”

Kato built up the uncertainty further, saying it’s a “funny story around iDX. Andy [Palmer] said it’s under way, and Pierre Liong, head of product planning in Nissan North America said it’s not so feasible. But Pierre Liong is under me, and Andy is my boss.”

He did bring assurance that if they do give permission to proceed, the car will be front-engined and rear-wheel driven, as well as it not being an expensive to buy – it would be cheaper than a Toyota GT86, but also probably not as powerful.
