Previous covered flight-search tool Hipmunk has always aimed to take the agony out of finding a cheap flight and now they're doing the same for hotels. Here's a quick look at the features.
Like any hotel search, you enter the desired location and dates and hit search. Hipmunk will perform the search and then provide you with a map on the right and a list of hotel options on the left. The prices for each nightly rate are color-coded so you can see if you're getting a good deal or not. (Hint: green is good, red is not-so-good.) You'll also see these colors pinned onto the map.
One really cool feature is the info overlays the map provides. You can overlay a heat map of nearby food, touristy spots, shopping, nightlife, and vices. Areas that have warmer colors have more options. Hipmunk's hotel search also lets you filter out options based on amenities you need. For example, if disabled access is a necessity you can choose that and make sure you only get hotels that provide it.
