Optimizing For DirectX 12 Will Take A Considerable Amount of Time – Zomboko

"Microsoft’s upcoming API has seen its fair share of praise. The API, no doubt holds immense potential for games development when it launches late next year."

So DirectX12 APU isn't as quick to optimize as people were expected, ok then I'm interesting where DX12 is going:)

Volkama3574d ago

As who expected? It was stated quite some time ago that using DirectX 12 to micro-manage resource would require additional work, which makes perfect sense really...

Since DirectX 12 is supposed to be a lower level API it obviously will take more time to optimize. I don't know why anyone would think otherwise.

They've scheduled the DX12 release for 2015 fall... which is understandable considering the amount of time it'll take to roll out compatibility checks and solid drivers for the initial release.

I haven't seen confirmation, but its fun to speculate that;

If Halo 5 is scheduled to be released in 2015 fall and DX12 is currently being implemented.. it would indicate that the API is already developed and implemented for the Halo 5 beta this fall.

In that instance, they would just be using this year to check compatibility issues across PCs. If it is ready and solid, we may even see Console dev's getting there hands on the API prior to the cross platform release date.

CPU' parallelism will change this generation awesomely

I guess the same could be said of the Cell Processor, may it RIP

Volkama3574d ago

Or for a more apt comparison, the same could be said for Mantle, and for the "to the metal" APIs on the console.

Micro-managing resource requires effort, it just comes with the territory.

To be honest, who would really expect a DX12 game when the API isn't due out until fall. Anyone with a 2015 release date might not be able to take advantage of DX12.

DirectX 12 for pc not for consoles

I can't wait for it to finally come out and be used. PC games will look even better and more power!
