Sandiganbayan junks Cunanan’s travel bid

MANILA, Philippines–The Sandiganbayan Fifth Division denied the request of provisional state witness Dennis Cunanan, former director general of the Technology Resource Center (TRC) to travel abroad.

Fifth Division chairman Roland Jurado, on Friday explained his was motion was denied because Cunanan is a flight risk.

Cunanan, who is accused of graft on the pork barrel scam, has asked the anti-graft court’s permission to leave the country. He is a subject of a hold-departure order.

Cunanan on Friday filed a motion to travel to Japan from July 7-15 and to the United States from July 20-August 3.

Cunanan has been accused of using TRC as a conduit between lawmakers and the bogus foundations of alleged pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim-Napoles to earn kickbacks.
