Hi everybody!
This is a quilt I'm making out of some discarded blocks that
somebody gave me. I'm using reproduction 30's fabric. I have the top completed
and sandwiched (a quilting term), it's ready to be quilted.
The cool thing about this is that by using the little bits
leftover from trimming the corners, I have the makings of a secondary
quilt.
Using scraps and throwaways to me really captures the historical essence of what
quilting really is: grandmothers and housewives of the past, pre Wal Mart,
being thrifty and aiming all their resources (even ‘wastes’) towards the
creation of objects that would bring comfort to the family – and beauty to the
home.
