A pregnant Florida woman was forced into induced labor after she and her family unknowingly consumed meat that had been laced with LSD, according to police.

The woman’s entire family, including her 6- and 7-year-old daughters, had to be hospitalized after eating the tainted meat purchased at a Walmart store in Tampa Monday, said police.

Ronnie Morales, 24, was described as the first person to get dangerously sick after eating the bottom round steak.

Morales’ nine months pregnant girlfriend, Jessica Rosado, was described by police as so terrified for his safety that she ignored her first 911 call and drove him herself to the hospital.

It was there that the 31-year-old began to feel ill.

She was transported to St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital when around that time her two daughters began hallucinating.

The two girls, Elyana and Royna, were hospitalized with tracheal intubation and were released on Wednesday along with Morales.

Rosado, who gave birth to a healthy baby boy, was released Thursday.

Tampa police reported their forensic investigators took possession of the food the family had consumed. They also took the family’s oven for testing.

The Walmart store said they are fully cooperating with authorities' investigation and removed all of their meat from their shelves as a precaution.
The Walmart store said they are fully cooperating with authorities’ investigation and removed all of their meat from their shelves as a precaution.

“Initial test results received today from the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office determined the family consumed bottom round steak contaminated with LSD,” they said Friday in a release.

Test results on the family members are expected in the next three weeks.

Police described the store as fully cooperating with their investigation.

In a statement sent out by a Walmart spokesperson, they described themselves as “deeply disturbed about this situation” and said they are “taking it very seriously.”

“We know our customers expect safe, quality food and we require our suppliers to meet the highest of food safety standards. It’s unclear where and how the food was tampered with or if the tampering occurred after purchase. However, out of an abundance of caution, we have pulled the remaining product from the store,” the statement continued.

Attempts to reach a Walmart spokesperson and manager for comment were not immediately successful.
