WEATHER BLOG: Moon Shades

By Carol Erickson

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Don't put away those sunglasses at night for the next few nights – we have SuperMoon looking down at us. The moon is 30% brighter as it is in Perigee and closest to earth. We get that huge night spotlight again on August 10 and September 9 – and a few days around those dates.

During the day, the Super Sun takes over, only blocked by a few passing clouds today and a few more on a partly sunny Sunday. By Sunday afternoon, chances of showers and thunderstorms start to come into the area with a humidity making warm front moving in. That is followed by a cold front slowly approaching our region, keeping things unsettled here on Monday and Tuesday. Both of those days could feature strong to even severe storms in a few places. It will be weather to monitor, but it leads to great weather by midweek and beyond.

Temperatures cool into the low 80's by Wednesday for a mid-July treat.
