OPEN NOW

  • Mr. Ciao, a new restaurant devoted to Italian street food, is now open at 598 Gerrard St. East in Chinatown East. On the menu expect antipasti, pastas and pizza fritta.
  • Rasa Bar, the first brick-and-mortar restaurant from The Food Dudes, is finally open in Harbord Village, offering a menu that ranges from kalbi-stuffed cabbage rolls to beef tartare cradled in bone marrow.
  • Mata Petisco Bar is now open in Keriwa's old Parkdale digs at 1690 Queen St. West. The menu will focus on shareable and snack-centric Latin fare.
  • The Rolling Pin, formerly known as J'Adore Cakes Co., has rebranded and relocated from The Danforth to a bigger location at 3429 Yonge St. between York Mills and Lawrence.
  • Stuffed arepas and ice cream sandwiches are a fixture on the menu at Cookie Martinez's new cargo container kitchen, part of Market 707 at Dundas and Bathurst.
  • Union Jack Pub & Eatery has quietly replaced Porteree Pub at 583 College St. in Little Italy. The seamless facebook takeover suggest management is still the same.
  • House/Maison has taken over Sugo Trattoria and The Vic Public House at 580 and 582 Church, and is now a French restaurant and adjacent cafe.
  • La Vizziata, a new gelateria and dessert bar, opened last week in the Junction at 2986 Dundas St. West.
  • New euro-cafe Crepe & Co. is open for business at 1167 Queen St. West, across from The Drake Hotel.

  • Cafe Plenty is opening a satellite location this July at 1 King West, where Petit Thuet recently vacated.
  • The Tempered Room, a patisserie from chef Bertrand AlĂŠpĂŠe, is soon to open in place of Brown Sugar Bakery at 1374 Queen St. West. [The Grid]

CLOSED

  • As previously reported, Estrella, the North York taqueria, is presumed deadpool - signs of life have been scarce in recent weeks.
  • Swirl Wine Bar (946 1/2 Queen St E.) has posted a farewell message on its website. After five years in business, the bar's last service will be Friday, June 27.
