Summary
The biggest lies are usually the ones we tell ourselves, and Steve has been telling lots of lies, especially lately. That in spite of how he can’t stop chewing his fingernails bloody, the never ending nightmares chasing him out of bed, and the way merely seeing ice sends him into a panic, he’s fine.
But when his latest mission with The Avengers goes horribly wrong, Steve can no longer keep lying, not even to himself.
Diagnosed with PTSD and placed on medical leave, initially Steve is resentful, stubbornly refusing the idea there’s anything that can make it better. Until Sam suggests a Service Dog, and introduces him to James Buchanan Barnes, a fellow vet and trainer who swears one of his dogs can help, if only Steve can summon enough bravery to take a leap of faith and accept a four-legged companion in his life.
What follows is a long and winding journey of fear, doubt and self-recrimination. But also hope, acceptance and redefining what it means to be a hero, as Steve finally faces the issues that have been haunting him his entire life.
There is also a lot of fur, conversations with dogs, and a cross-country road trip, as Steve rebuilds his life and maybe, just maybe, falls in love along the way.

Sometimes she thought about the normal life she could've had if she had refused the government's help and tried to save her sister on her own. The normal life she could've had if they hadn't tried to turn her into a weapon and if she had never been caught by Hydra.
But that was a waste of time. Life was what it was; her sister was alive, and so was she, but nothing would ever go back to the way it was.
After years on the run, would she finally settle in the arms of America's golden boy? It seemed like a good idea. The only problem was the man she hated more than she hated the government or Hydra.
And she knew she couldn't have one without making peace with the other, but was that all? Hate? -

Steve is not happy to find that he survived being frozen in ice for 70 years. He would like to talk to whoever made that decision and make them regret it. He is even less happy when the government offers him a job offer right after waking up and decides he is going to make himself a problem then and there. What he didn't expect was to find a old enemy lurking in the shadows, waiting for the opportune time to strike.

La relation de Tony et Steve à travers le temps, entre la bataille de New-York et leur dernière bataille face à Thanos... Tant de souvenirs, tant de moments vécus leur rappelant qu'à une autre époque ils s'étaient aimés, qu'avec Peter, ils avaient été une famille. Une histoire qui avait signé le début de leur fin...
{Des scènes sont 100% prises des films et juste réadapté en stony, j'utilise donc à certains moments des vrais dialogues mais en VF, si du sens se perd vis-à-vis de la VO, je suis désolé...}

Une petite phrase de seulement cinq mots qui aurait dû rendre tout le monde heureux mais qui pourtant n'a que l'effet d'une bombe.
Steve vit avec Tony la relation dont il a toujours rêvé. La bague sur sa main en est la plus belle preuve mais quand il revoit son meilleur ami pour lui annoncer la grande nouvelle et faire de lui son témoin, son paradis durement acquis risque soudainement de s'effondrer.
Quant à Bucky, il sait qu'il devrait se réjouir pour son meilleur ami, mais dès qu'il pense à ce mariage, il ne ressent qu'une douleur au coeur qu'il ne peut expliquer, mais il sait qu'il doit empêcher ce mariage.
Un compte à rebours se déclenche alors que les secrets et les non-dits accompagnent le choix des petits fours et de la parfaite tenue pour le grand jour et Bucky et Steve n'ont plus beaucoup de temps pour faire un choix, en espérant faire le bon.

Being pardoned was an amazing feeling. One of the best things one could feel. Steve Grant Rogers, "Captain America", has been pardoned for his "war Crimes", as well as (what the people called them) "The Rogue Avengers". Bucky was no longer wanted due to Wakanda helping him, and getting rid of those Trigger Words, and giving him a new arm. And, The Accords were sorted.
Did he want to be an Avenger forever? To just go for the big guns, or as Sam, his boyfriend, says "the Big Three; Androids, aliens, and wizards". What about the ones on the ground? The people who are abused, raped, robbed?
So, here Steve Rogers was. He stood up on an apartment building in Brooklyn, overlooking the dark streets, watching people walk about, heads down, or chattering, or drunk, or even high.Or;
Steve Rogers is pardoned and becomes a vigilante. Only, he has no idea what he's doing, and finds himself getting help from Spider-Man, who has since broken off from Tony Stark.

Steve missed the furrowed brows, and concerned looks shot around the room. He tried his best to isolate himself in the Avengers Tower. If anyone could expose his vulnerability, it was this team. S.H.I.E.L.D. had been less of a threat because Fury was more than willing to believe whatever Steve told him as long as he got results. This team of super spies, geniuses, and gods? They had no reason to sit back and allow an incompetent and weak man to lead them. It was necessary to avoid allowing them to see the cracks in his armor, or they may bench him. If Steve got benched, there was nothing left for him in this century.
