Inside Recruiting: Word getting out on Trey Lowe

 Before the start of the AAU season this spring, Team Final's Trey Lowe held roughly 15 scholarship offers. All but one were in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or New York.

Rob Brown, Team Final's program director, said local college coaches were "trying to keep the secret quiet." But thanks to heady play with Team Final, Lowe is a secret no more.

"It's starting to get out there now. I'm starting to build a name for myself," said Lowe, who will be a senior this season. "I'm remaining humble, but I'm also working hard to do what I need to do to succeed."

The 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Ewing, N.J., visited Villanova on Monday. He was supposed to visit St. Joseph's but had to reschedule. Lowe said he plans to visit the Hawks after school ends later this month. He said that he liked Villanova a lot and that the campus was "way bigger" than he expected.

"The coaching staff was great," he said. "I love coach Jay Wright and his staff. They had a lot to say."

He added an offer in May from Virginia Commonwealth and has a feeling that Villanova will make an offer soon. He has also picked up interest from California, Stanford, Creighton, Georgetown, Memphis, and Vanderbilt. Drexel, Temple, and St. Joseph's have already made offers. Lowe said he will trim his college list after the Peach Jam in Augusta, Ga., next month. He plans to commit to a school in late August or early September.

"He had a terrific high school season and a terrific start to his AAU season," said Brown. "That's what I attribute the national exposure that he's gotten to. I attribute that to his blow-up."

Ali to Maryland. Kareem Ali said he trusted his feelings.

"There was something about Maryland," Ali said. "It felt like home."

The Timber Creek junior defensive back and four-star recruit, as rated by Rivals.com, on Thursday announced that he would attend the University of Maryland on a football scholarship.

Ali, who had more than 20 offers, had narrowed his final four down to Maryland, Louisville, Pitt, and West Virginia. The 5-10, 180-pound Ali, a track star who projects as a cornerback in college, said he made his decision after visiting Louisville on Monday. He had visited Maryland on Saturday.

Ennis to Purdue. Millville running back Rob Ennis orally committed to Purdue on Thursday. The 5-10, 180-pounder will be a senior in the fall. He rushed for 1,141 yards last season. He also had offers from Buffalo, Rutgers, and Toledo.

Football visits. Washington defensive end Shareef Miller plans to visit Georgia on June 27 and Georgia Tech on the 28th. The 6-4, 225-pounder will be a senior in the fall. He holds offers from Temple, Penn State, and others.

Imhotep Charter tight end Naseir Upshur visited Michigan on Thursday and added a scholarship offer. The 6-foot-2, 223-pounder holds offers from Michigan State, Maryland, Temple, Arizona State, Rutgers, and others.

Temple offers. Temple coach Matt Rhule extended scholarship offers to two players after his Western Pennsylvania football camp last weekend. The Owls are the first team to make an offer to Pittsburgh Central Catholic's Ron George. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound running back and outside linebacker will be a junior in the fall. Temple also made an offer to Franklin Regional's Brett Zanotto, a three-star inside linebacker who will be a senior. The 6-foot, 215-pounder added offers this spring from Maryland and Syracuse.
