We love online courses here at Lifehacker, but you may not be interested in studying law or learning how to code. For the more artistically inclined, Kadenze has free online courses on modern art, sound production, and careers in media technology from academic institutions like Stanford, UCLA, Princeton, and CalArts.
If you think of yourself as more of a creative type, it can be tough to find online courses that cater to you. Kadenze’s course offerings, while sparse at the moment, can scratch that itch without costing you a dime. Some courses, like The Modern Genius: Art and Culture in the 19th Century, are even available to be taken for credit. Of course, if you want to take advantage of earning the college credit, being graded, etc., you have to pay for a premium membership ($7 a month), and for the credits through the college institution as well. If you don’t need credit, however, Kadenze’s classes are completely free to enroll in; granting you access to all the lectures and notes at no cost.
