A TEENAGER had a shock when she came across an old letter and photograph apparently sent from a German prisoner of war camp during the Second World War.
Nicole Williamson discovered the letter tucked into a book by Katie Price she was reading, which she believes came from a charity shop.
The letter is dated June 1942 and has a stamp on it from Stalag VIIIb – a large prisoner of war camp near the town of Lamsdorf (now called Lambinowice) in Poland that housed thousands of prisoners during the conflict.
The cover of the letter has a prison stamp on it and states it is from a Rifleman G Jenner and is sent to a Mrs Guy in Milton Abbas.
It appears the recipient is a family member of the prisoner, although not his mother as it states: “I know you are doing well because mum’s told me.”
Nicole, from Kingston Maurward College, said she got a shock when she found the letter and she is now keen to get it back to its rightful owner.
She said: “I was shocked, I didn’t know what it was.
“I just want it returned to its owner.”
