If you have an old damaged webcam, you can use it to make an USB LED light.

Step 1: Components and Tools

Tools:

  • Soldering iron
  • Driller
  • 5mm Drill
  • Multimeter
  • Hot glue gun
  • Adhesive tape
  • Miscellaneous tools

Components

  • Old webcam
  • 1 - 5mm LED high bright (white or other colour)
  • 1 - Resistor 200 Ohms

Step 2: Disassemble the Webcam and Get Ready To

Disassemble the webcam and remove the pcb.

Use the lens support to fix the LED, in my case I needed to make a 5mm hole with a driller.

Step 3: Solder the Components

Solder the 200 Ohms resistor to the LED.

Step 4: Find the 5 Volts Wires and Make the Connections

Cute the USB cable end connector and connect the cable in your PC to find the 5 Volts wires.

Then, connect the 2 wires (in my case the black and red) to the LED, the positive cable must be connected to the anode LED terminal (the big terminal), in my case it's where I soldered the resistor.

Protect one of the terminals with adhesive tape or a small piece of plastic wire cover to avoid a short circuit.

Step 5: Assemble the Components and Mount the Webcam

Fix the LED to the the lens support with hot glue and mount your new webcam LED light.

Step 6: Connect It in Your PC USB Port and Voilà

Connect it in your PC USB port and voilà, use your new cheap LED ligh.
