A major incident has been declared after two buses crashed in Brighton town centre, leaving two men with life threatening injuries and a further three seriously hurt.
A total of 23 people were injured in the accident, South East Central Ambulance service said. One bus driver, who was at first said to be trapped in the wreckage, is thought to be one of the two men with life-threatening injuries.
Firefighters and paramedics went to North Street, near the Clock Tower, after the double-decker buses collided at 9.22am. Sussex police confirmed that there were six to eight “walking wounded” after the crash.
