She's known for her love of fashion as well as her music.

But Rita Ora proved that the sky - or rather the thigh - is the limit with her latest sartorial offering: a kimono-inspired jacket dress.

The blonde beauty sported the look as she emerged from her Tribeca hotel on Thursday, but almost gave fans more than they bargained for when she flashed her bare leg.

Seen posing for a photograph in downtown Manhattan, the star can be seen urgently assessing the level of exposure - looking down at herself, rather than at the camera.

Fortunately, she didn't lose her modesty and managed to avoid a wardrobe malfunction.

In fact, despite the gaffe, the look was actually one of Rita's strongest of late - proving that, occasionally, she can get it right.

Featuring tan, white, pink and baby blue ruffles, the three-quarter length item perfectly suited her colouring and added a flattering shape.

She matched the look with a simple necklace and a pair of nude stiletto shoes.

The aspiring actress also wore a flash of red lipstick to add a touch of urban glamour, which was fitting given that she's in the Big Apple to promote her range with Rimmel.

Earlier in the day she had spent hours launching her latest venture at New York City's Mercer Hotel.

Putting on a typically daring sartorial display, the 23-year-old singer mixed sporty with sophisticated as she rocked a jade sequin-encrusted baseball jacket and a matching pencil skirt.

Proving the key is in the detail, Rita completed her look with dramatic winged eyeliner, a bright aqua manicure and matching painted toes as she worked her magic in front of the camera.

As well as being an accomplished singer, DKNY model and make-up designer, Rita is starring in the upcoming Fifty Shades Of Grey movie as Christian Grey's sister Mia.

And she revealed she's perfect for the role as she and her DJ beau Calvin Harris are into some rather kinky bedroom antics themselves.

Speaking during a candid interview with The Breakfast Club on Power 105.1 FM, she said: ''I mean, I like a whip. This is why Fifty Shades is perfect for me because I really love the book. But I like unexpected stuff. A tiny bit of [pain], not too much.'

Speaking recently about her love of make-up, Rita said she hates being bare-faced, telling Company magazine: 'And if I did, it would be because I'm at the airport and about to miss my flight!

'Even then, I'll still rock a lip. I love make-up. It exaggerates what's great about you and can totally pick up your whole face if you're having an off-day.'
