Pandora: First Contact Review | ManaPool

Lachrymosity of ManaPool writes: "Pandora: First Contact takes your standard turn-based 4X and adds aliens you take seriously (albeit only in the first half of a game), a research system that guarantees you won’t have exactly the same upgrades as your neighbours, and a story intriguing enough for me to write this history paper. Micromanagement of your cities and people is surprisingly entertaining, though the variety of tile improvements is a bit lacking. And while the ability to customize units is fun, combat can be frustrating, and long, late-game sieges made me consider glassing my own cities to speed up what was an inevitable defeat."

Pandora: First Contact - PC Review | Chalgyr's Game Room

Chalgyr's Game Room writes:

Anyone who has played a Civilization title, especially Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, should feel right at home with Pandora: First Contact. The premise is basic enough, but still holds true to the themes established by Civilization games over the years. Explore a new world, research and improve your populace and attempt to ferret out opposing factions using diplomacy, science or military might. All in all, Pandora: First Contact is a solid if unspectacular title that is a visual upgrade over the much older Alpha Centurai, but does not quite deliver as much depth as I would have liked.

Pandora: First Contact Review - Mouse n Joypad

Jack writes - "Pandora First Contact is a 4x turn-based Sci Fi strategy simulator developed by Proxy Studios and published by Slitherine LTD. Proxy are a relatively new developer, only recently being founded back in 2009 and having one other title called Conquest: Divide and Conquer. This is very similar to Pandora, sharing a similar user interface and multiple game mechanics. Slytherine on the other hand have been active since the year 2000 boasting an extensive portfolio featuring a majority of relatively unknown war games covering several eras and famous battles. As Pandora has recently appeared on Steam, will it be enough to project both companies in a positive light?"
