British studio The Chinese Room has announced that its PlayStation 4 exclusive apocalyptic exploration game Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture will be out on August 11th.

The studio has also launched a new website for the game that will feature images, music, and writing from the game that you won’t find anywhere else. “We want to set the scene for this game, introduce you to characters and themes of the story, get you exclusive previews of the game’s soundtrack and fill you in on some more of the work that’s gone on to create the title,” the studio said about the website.

The Chinese Room said that between now and the game’s launch there will also be a mini-documentary and a development diary “which lifts the hood on how we got from the first ideas to this game we’ve poured heart and soul into over the last three years.”

Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture is The Chinese Room’s next game after Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs and Dear Esther. All three games are first-person games with different themes but all of them touching on notions of death. Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture is a game about a small town called Yaughton in the British countryside.

Apparently, by the time you get there, the world ended 31 years ago. You’ll be able to explore the town as you wish, piecing together the fragments of the former inhabitants’ lives. You’ll learn how they lived and died simply through non-linear environmental interaction.
