According to the pro wrestling rumor mill, ever since The Rock suffered serious injuries in his WrestleMania 29 match with John Cena and threw off plans to work with Brock Lesnar, "The Beast" became the working idea for Undertaker's opponent at WrestleMania 30, scheduled for April 6, 2014, in New Orleans.
Now comes an incredibly interesting report from the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter in the midst of a discussion about Daniel Bryan's recent heel turn to join The Wyatt Family on Monday Night Raw this past week:
It's not even clear what the direction is, except apparently as a way to make Wyatt into a star capable of working with Cena at WrestleMania, as is the plan. Where Bryan fits into the show is unknown. It is said that Undertaker asked to work with him at Mania this year, and such a match would at least have the turn make sense. But as of press time, the top four planned Mania matches are still Cena vs. Wyatt, Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar, HHH vs. C.M. Punk and Randy Orton vs. Batista.
Yes, you read that right, folks. Undertaker, apparently, asked WWE to work a match with the "B+" player himself at WrestleMania, which, at this point, is pretty much the highest honor one can achieve within the company. That doesn't mean that's what we're going to get. In fact, it's likely not going to be the case at all, but the fact that there's even a chance is enough to make any pro wrestling fan salivate.
This also makes it seem as though Shawn Michaels won't be working this year's show but that should come as no real surprise. Really, it would have been surprising had he actually decided to come out of retirement, something he has been adamant about not doing.
Perhaps the one thing we can hang our hat on here is the fact that nothing seems set in stone and the "Road to WrestleMania" is shaping up to be as unpredictable as ever.
