Fallout 4 or Elder Scrolls 6? Bethesda staffs up for "bleeding-edge" next gen RPGs

Battlecry Studios also advertises for work on "undisclosed AAA PC and next gen console game"

MrSwankSinatra3758d ago

It better be fallout 4.... Or else

dirigiblebill3758d ago

...or else Elder Scrolls 6. I'd kill to revisit Daggerfall.

Hellsvacancy3758d ago

It's Fallouts turn, you've got Elder Scrolls online

-Foxtrot3758d ago

Fallout 4 is next, whats the point in doing another ES, people already have ElderScrolls online coming out. Hopefully with that game they will stay far away from co-op in the main games, I mean look how good Battlespire ended up ¬¬

Anyway

Why would you want to revisit Daggerfall, I want them to go to a place we havent been yet. Since most of the places that are left are kind of small I'd say with new console tec that they have a massive map of two locations.

I would want them to visit Valenwood and Elsweyr, the home of the Woodelfs and the Khajiits, whats great about these two locations if you let us visit both is that you could see a huge difference in the landscape and it would feature a lot of variation in the map unlike Skyrim where it was mostly just snow, snow and more snow.

Lets not forget apparently the two races used to be at war with each other, I think another rising conflict could be the plot of the next game.

Least then the DLC could take us to Summerset Isles which is right next to Valenwood.

GarrusVakarian3758d ago (Edited 3758d ago )

@Foxtrot

Couldn't agree more about setting the next game in Valenwood and Elsweyr. They border each other too if im not mistaken, so imagine crossing from Elsweyr into Valenwood, completely different environments, that would be amazing.

One amazing piece of DLC they could do if they set the next ES in those regions of Tamriel is to base it on the Elder Scrolls novels (Infernal City/Lord of souls). While they aren't the best books ever written, they would make a great DLC in my opinion.

-Foxtrot3758d ago

@Lukas_Japonicus

Hopefully if they did that it wouldn't be a loading screen to cut across, it would be one huge map...like you would actually see a massive wall with lots of Woodelf/Khajiit soldiers roaming around on them.

If your a Woodelf or Khajiit it would be more easier to get across each one at the start of the game because of special "race" interactions.

Speaking of loading screens, with next gen tec I expect them to make it so when you enter a city through ONE loading screen it loads up EVERYTHING in the city so we don't have to keep going through loading screens to get in/out of buildings or underground places in the city etc

Reibooi3758d ago

I am betting it will be Fallout 4 as the logical thing to do is alternate back and forth between the Elder Scrolls and Fallout. Bethesda has to know that crap tons of people are hyping themselves up for it. Not to mention it's been awhile since Bethesda themselves touched the franchise as they didn't make Vegas.

That said regardless of what the game is I am betting it will be awesome. I just hope they focus on more then just raw graphics as they really need to improve animation as well.

PeaSFor3758d ago

Give me Fallout4, if you want Elder scrolls...go play ESOnline for a while and let us get our Fallout.

nveenio3758d ago

I don't care what it is, as long as it's not riddled with bugs.

UnHoly_One3758d ago (Edited 3758d ago )

"a lot of variation in the map unlike Skyrim where it was mostly just snow, snow and more snow."

You know, except for the entire southern 1/2 of the map where there was no snow at all. lol

on topic, I'd be happy with Fallout 4, but if I had to pick one, I'd choose ES6.

I love them both, so I won't complain either way. :)

tee_bag2423758d ago

I'd love to revist Daggerfall too.

@ Foxtrot

Glad you remembered Battlespire this time. Let's be honest, it's wasn't the coop that made it suck.

MysticStrummer3757d ago (Edited 3757d ago )

"I'd kill to revisit Daggerfall."

I want the entire continent to be available like it was in Arena and will be in ESO, but I'd rather have 2-4 player co-op than an MMO. Not that Bethesda would be able to handle that kind of coding… : /

Yeah tee_bag, co-op wasn't what made Battlespire suck. Co-op in an ES game could be great, but as I said Bethesda wouldn't be able to handle it on a technical level.

escott0133757d ago

@-Foxtrot

Send a letter to Bethesda for us! I strongly agree with your plot idea. It wouldn't feel boring for a long time because of the variety we would be getting.

On another note, I'd love to see a sort of expedition type plot where the people of Tamriel make another attempt at invading and colonizing Akavir. There is so much mystery to that land.

I just want an RPG on these next gen systems. I own an X1, but I think both systems could benefit from an RPG. Like the old school party system type RPG's. Fallout 4 and Elder Scrolls would be great, but I'm waiting for a true RPG game. I don't know when one will even be coming out.

kingdom183758d ago

KH3, FF15? Dragon Age : Inquisition? And many more... If you mean turn based... don't think one will come to the Xbox One anytime soon, maybe to the PS4, actually I if my memory serves me correctly I remember reading about a SJRPG coming to it, so it would have to be turn based and party based.

UnholyLight3758d ago

It better be Elder Scrolls!!!!! Oblivion and Skryim are still someof the best games I've ever played and spent countless hours on. Also can give it credit that it opened my mind to a whole new world of games I had previously thought of as lame or boring.

tee_bag2423758d ago (Edited 3758d ago )

If you liked them try Morrowind. It's brilliant too. Perhaps even more detailed in some areas.
Anyway you've surely love it if you haven't already played it

UnholyLight3756d ago

tee_bag242 I remember my friend owning it before the disc broke. I barely remember anything at all since he only got to show it to me once and that was way back in 2001 or whenever and I was just a little guy back then haha. Unfortunately I never owned an Xbox back then and I have never gone back to try it out for some reason.

MysticStrummer3758d ago

The Fallout games last gen were highly overrated in my opinion, but to each his own. I'd rather have another proper ES than ESO also, though I don't share the ES purist hatred of the co-op idea. I am skeptical that Bethesda could pull it off on a technical level though.

MysticStrummer3758d ago

lol

Two dollars…

Get that movie reference?

MrSwankSinatra3758d ago

I want my two dollars (all the other paper boys show up) TWO DOLLARS!!

TheSaint3758d ago

Fallout 4 will be the game that sells me one of the new consoles.

Gamer19823758d ago

I hope fallout.. Elder scrolls needs to die now that series is getting stale.. Or at least take a long break and come back refreshed with new tech to make amazing AI and better worlds. Fallout could do with getting a buggy free game with decent graphics (outside of PC as mods fixed all issues)

Double_Oh_Snap3758d ago

Wait and see... Won't be long now, Skyrim released in 2011. I would be extremely happy for either. If I had my way though, they would give obsidian the rights to make another Fallout game.

While Todd Howard an company reveal the next ES. That way we get both in a relatively short amount of time.

Mega243758d ago

Obsidian doesn't want to work with a "Big Publisher" anymore, so they are stepping away from bethesda and other publishers, they think the future is in crowd funded projects.

KrisButtar3758d ago

Bethesda always leap frogs between Fallout and The Elder Scrolls and since Skyrim was the last a new Fallout is coming up. Even though I would like another TES game instead

Gh05t3758d ago

"Always leapfrogs"

Since there is only one fallout game isn't it hard to use "always" I mean you are talking about three games and your saying always?

I believe fallout 4 will be the next game released but still it would at least take another fallout to create a pattern.

KrisButtar3758d ago

TES3
Fallout 3
TES4
New Vegas
TES5

that's the leap frogging I was talking about. maybe always was a bad choice of words but it went that way for a whole console gen. so fallout should be next.

MidnytRain3758d ago

KrisButtar

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion came out two years before Fallout 3 in 2006.

KrisButtar3758d ago

I stand corrected, I was sure Fallout 3 came 1st because TES4 is such an improvement over it.

ShutUpDonny3758d ago

Not if you count Fallout 3 and New Vegas. It was not a numbered sequel, but it was still a full stand alone game.

3758d ago
DanielGearSolid3758d ago

I would die happy if I never hear the words bleeding edge again

They aren't going to give more. We are talking about a company that has rereleased an 13 year old game at least 5 times.

Fallout 4 from PlayStation Plus Essentials Can Be Upgraded for Free

After fears the free upgrade would be limited to the PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium version, and Bethesda Softworks removing mention of the upgrade being free for all, it turns out PlayStation Plus Essential owners can get the upgrade for free. - IS

Super happy to see this was eventually resolved for PlayStation Plus Essential owners as well!

darthv723d ago

Bethesda addressed this the other day. There was no fear... just impatience.

P_Bomb3d ago

Expecting something to work at launch is impatience?

TheJacksofAll2d ago

No that’s called entitlement

admiralvic3d ago

They said they were looking into it, followed by only giving news about Extra, and then editing out the “free for all” message. You don’t think all of this wouldn’t give some reasonable doubt?

anast2d ago

More than a few people bought a copy of this game during this time. So, it worked out as planned.

How Bethesda Fumbled Fallout 4's Sudden Popularity With The Next-Gen Update

Fahad from eXputer: "Bethesda rolled out a messy next-gen Fallout 4, ruining the experience of many new and returning players after the TV show's success."

RaidenBlack3d ago

Fallout London would've been the perfect return gift for Fallout fans after watching the Prime show

EazyC2d ago

Bethesda could have kicked them some cash about a year ago and collaborated to make it a full scale thing

RaidenBlack2d ago

or atleast given them a heads up regarding the current-gen update

LordoftheCritics2d ago

My perfectly modded game just died.

Abear212d ago

Yeah, they had so much time and that show budget, holy shit, you’re telling me they had no time to put together a game with how long they knew about the show coming?

Blame Starfield.

Profchaos2d ago

I think they chose right 4 was the most accessible fallout to date however I really wish 3/NV got some switch love or psvr2 ports

MrDead2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

They didn't fix the major bugs that have been plaguing the game since release and they broke mods and every modded save. Good work.

phoenixwing2d ago

They've been ruining their mod scene for elder scrolls skyrim as well. If they're barely increasing the graphics then it's a complete waste since molders already had done better.

raWfodog2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

I don't use the mods, but why do they even offer mod support if they constantly break them with their updates?

anast2d ago

Modders fix their game for free. They use that information to do an update of their own and paly it off like it was all them.

on_line_forever2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

I like the show BUT i can't play the game

Bethesda = poor quality games

Abear212d ago

Skyrim exists so you are wrong, although, that took being re-released 6 times on newer hardware and countless patches, but now it’s a good game.

Crows902d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Skyrim isn't much better. Morrowind was their A game...but they abandoned that direction in favor of the low quality game but accessible offering in Skyrim.

anast2d ago

Billions is spent on cheap plastic trinkets each year all of which are poor quality. In fact, it is a fact that poor quality sells more that good quality. Skyrim existing supports this.
