Northeast Westchester Rotary Presents Scholarships to 3

Graduates of Somers, John Jay and North Salem high schools were recognized for the group for their community service.

The Northeast Westchester Rotary presented $1,000 scholarships to three local high school graduates in recognition of service to their communities:

  • Courtney Ineson, graduate of Somers High School, plans to study Psychology or Pre Med at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. Courtney’s resume “bursts with all her activities and accomplishments” as recognized by The Somers Record January 22, 2015.
  • Julia Smith, graduate of John Jay High School, plans to study early childhood education at SUNY Geneseo. Julia is a volunteer firefighter at the Katonah Fire Department.
  • Christopher Woloshyn, graduate of North Salem High School, plans to attend SUNY Binghamton. As an Eagle Scout project, Christopher beautified the landscaping around the war memorial in front of the Westchester Exceptional Children’s School.

All three students were honored with their parents at the June 11 and June 18 NEW Rotary meetings.
