Mojang Adds Default Female Character Alex To Minecraft

Recommended Videos

The default character in Minecraft has always been Steve – a guy. For its entire lifetime, Minecraft has not had another default character, but that has now changed as Mojang has added a woman called Alex as an alternative default skin for your character.

Writing in the announcement post, Mojang explained that “jolly old Steve doesn’t really represent the diversity of our playerbase. For that reason, we’re giving all players opportunity to play with an Alex skin instead. She brings thinner arms, redder hair, and a ponytail; she actually looks a bit like Jens from certain angles.”

In extra Minecraft news, PlayStation version of the game got The Simpsons character pack, while the Xbox 360 version got 30 new achievements and extra music tracks to bring it up to date with the Xbox One version.
