As the Kaiser and his Government stand indicted for the murder of 1,145 men, women and children, including more than 100 Americans, as the result of the torpedoing and destruction of the Lusitania, the people of the civilized world have their eyes turned on the White House, waiting for the answer to the question: ‘‘What is President Wilson going to do about it?’’ That Herr Dernburg and Count Bernstorff believe that nothing will be done is evident, as the former has announced that the crime of the Lusitania will be followed be more murders of neutral passengers on the high seas. — The New York Herald, European Edition, May 12, 1915
