Extra Scenario: Shut Up, Kid

Rely on Horror: There are some despicable kids out there across Xbox Live, PSN, and PC – vile children whose parents should be monitoring them and washing their mouths out with soap when they hear a stream of expletives or verbal attacks come from their offspring. Racist and homophobic remarks get bounced around like a playground ball, and personal attacks are commonplace in online communities where children are present. There is a troubling issue at hand that stems not from the children, but from those they share their online communities with: the adult gamers. These children are merely a product of their online environment and it’s about time we stop calling for their exclusion and take a stand against those that act so vehemently toward them.

I'll be the Devil's advocate,
At the paintball arenas in my area you have to be at least 10 years old to play on their fields. The parents have to sign a waiver until they reach the age of 16. If the parent has an 8 year old, they can say whatever they want but that kid is not allowed to play on their field.
M rated games are for people 17 years of age and older. It is up to the parents to decide if they will allow their kid to play it or not. M rated games with a multiplayer mode have the same rules, however, the decision to allow your kid to play the game doesn't just affect you and your child. It affects the online community for whatever game it is. You, as a parent, need to understand that the game is rated m for a reason and often times the game box will say "Online Interactions Not Rated By ESRB".

I have an 8 year old nephew that I take care of. He bought himself his own XB1 with chore, birthday, and Christmas money. He bought himself CoD Ghosts and Need For Speed. I made it perfectly clear to him that if he starts talking about guns all the time or stops being respectful or stops doing the things that are expected of him, he will lose Ghosts. He didn't take me seriously and he got himself in big trouble at school. I traded in ghosts at GameStop the next day.
When he finally was able to play his XB1 again he was playing NFS and then stopped because he said people,e were being mean to him. I over heard him talking to the people online and he was being really annoying and acting very childish (like a 4 year old). When he complained to me, I told him that I heard him and that he deserved it because he wasn't being respectful of the other players. And if he can't take the heat then get out of the kitchen. I also told him that if I ever hear him act that way again, or if he plays without a mic and doesn't help his team to the best of his ability, or if he is just plain rude, I will disable his ability to play online.
He's been good so far but that just might because he preordered Titanfall and doesn't want to mess that up.
My point is that if the game says M plus expect to be hearing R rated material and don't complain when you do. I'm not saying that's acceptable. I'm just saying when you walk into a snake pit expect to get bit.
