Don’t Starve’s PS4 Success increases Klei’s interest in Vita

After recently launching as part of the PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection on PlayStation 4, Don’t Starve breached well beyond the million-player threshold; prompting developer Klei Entertainment to further consider bringing the game to other platforms; including PlayStation Vita.

This game seems to be a perfect pick for VITA.

+ Cross-Save
I want to play at home and continue at work ...at the moment I'm using my smartphones WiFi Hotspot to play Don't Starve at work and the only downside is that it's draining much more battery on both devices than it would normally :/

Baltar3749d ago

Another downside is that you will probably end up losing your job if you keep playing at work

hellzsupernova3749d ago

Please bring it to vita I'm travelling the world and my only console is vita and 3DS

grumpc3749d ago

defeats the purpose of travelling the world haha, unless you just mean for the plane.

hellzsupernova3749d ago

That and rainy days like today cannot do any good activities lol.

NaAsAr3749d ago

agreed. definitely can see myself playing this on the vita

dedicatedtogamers3749d ago

So much Giggety.

I've already played many, many hours on the PC version, and I'd be happy to put this on my Vita. Out of curiosity (I haven't played the PS4 version), does the console version have the caves? What about adding enchantments to your hat? What about those giant ground-worms? I wasn't sure how "up to date" the console version was compared to the PC version

I'd love a properly formatted Vita version. Remote Play works all right for this game, but it's a bit cumbersome on the small screen.

Oh, and whatever idiot wrote this needs to learn how to properly use semicolons.

WeAreLegion3749d ago

I found that a bit strange, too. You don't HAVE to continue the sentence.

360ICE3749d ago (Edited 3749d ago )

While I agree that the writer should take a look at his semicolon usage, it is a little harsh to call him an idiot.

I find that criticism is often taken more seriously if it's presented in a constructive and polite manner.

Idiot.

minimur123749d ago

What I like is how much time they spent implementing remote play, if I've noticed this the button displays change when Playing on vita. I don't think I've played any games that do that yet apart from this one

Skate-AK3749d ago

BF4 does it too. A lot of the games do actually. It's built into the remote play software.

minimur123749d ago

the remote play software doesn't change the logos, the game detects it being in remote play and it changes some stuff, like bindings, and for AC, it pops up with the binding page. In AC 4 it doesn't change the logos. I didn't know other games do that as well though.

IcicleTrepan3749d ago

eh.. I got to day 3 and turned it off. I found it to be boring. Not sure what success they're referring to because the game is free right now. So everyone will DL it even those that will never play it.

hellzsupernova3749d ago

Yah but they get something for every download! It's a fair deal for both parties according to contrasts developer

IcicleTrepan3749d ago

I don't think you understand my point. They are technically not succeeding at anything. Sony is propping them up financially.

djplonker3749d ago

hey it's good for all 3 partys (sony, devs, gamers) I would never have bought dmc or borderlands 2 (again have it on pc) but because of ps plus I found out I love dmc and I can play co-op borderlands with my friends that don't have a pc and none of us had to pay much!

It was ps plus that made me preorder my ps4 on the 22nd of feb just after it was announced YOU CANT BEAT IT!

(Ok some steam sales are good but not this good)

BitbyDeath3749d ago

They have dlc releasing soon, if millions downloaded the game then chances of dlc sales being a success is also quite high. Consider the foot is now in the door.

I'll be buying the dlc, brilliant game

hellzsupernova3749d ago

They are succeeding at getting the game out their, become known through this knowledge you will get heaps of streaming on twitch and then other people who don't have plus or when it gets taken off plus will be like oh that game looks cool I'll buy it, it's all about exposure

djplonker3749d ago

A game about rubbing crap in your eyes would do well on ps plus because its free :D

(I am not saying anything bad about don't starve just that any ps plus game must be popular)

MasterCornholio3749d ago

Dont Starve is popular because it truly is a good game. The same thing with games like BioShock Infinite and DmC (I hate the new Dante but the game is fun).

Ares903749d ago

As someone who never played a Devil May Cry game before, this Dante's look didn't bother me at all. The game is fucking badass!

blusoops3749d ago

I would rather they bring their next game natively to Vita. Day and date with any other versions.

I love playing don't starve via remote play but by the time a native vita version comes out, I'll probably be burnt out on this game. And most likely it won't be free again w plus so it has a strong chance of failing.
