A New Mini Doc Explores How Close We Are To Cloning the Woolly Mammoth

Cloning isn’t science fiction anymore. In fact, in some parts of the world, it’s big business. But cloning an extinct Woolly Mammoth? Well, that’s another story, but this fascinating Motherboard documentary travels to South Korea and Russia to investigate how close we are to resurrecting the dead.

The 22-minute doc focuses on cloning but takes a lengthy detour to explain the mammoth tusk-hunting business. Because without this legally dubious practice, cloning the mammoth would be nearly impossible. But even beyond the mammoth, it’s amazing to look inside South Korean cloning facilities, see dogs born with glow-in-the-dark claws, and listen to discussions on the possibility of human cloning. The future is going to be a weird place. [Motherboard]
