Friends and family of a 17-year-old boy who was found stabbed to death in a park in Sleepy Hollow, NY remembered him with a candlelight vigil.

The boy, identified by the Journal News and other media as Tahj Robinson, was found dead in a pavillion at Barnhardt Park in the Westchester County community along the Hudson River late on Thursday night. As word of his death spread friends began to gather at the park and by evening flowers, candles, pictures and basketball jerseys covered the sidewalk.

"This was a tragedy for our entire Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow community, which has long been tightly knit and supportive," wrote Dr. Daniel McCann, Tarrytown's interim superintendent of schools, on the district website. The school's homecoming football game was postponed on Saturday.

Robinson was a former student at Tarrytown High School who played basketball and football and was living with relatives in New Jersey. McCann told the Journal News Robinson was “liked by students and faculty and his principals. They were very saddened. It is a very emotional day for those people.”

16-year-old Berinzon Moronta of Tarrytown was charged with Robinson's death, according to 7 ABC, which reports a fight between the two led to the fatal stabbing.
