2 killed and 8 injured in early morning bus crash

PETALING JAYA: Two people died while eight were seriously injured when an express bus carrying Indonesian passengers skidded at Batu 26, Asam Jawa today.
In the 5am mishap, 22 bus passengers out of the 48, including the bus driver, sustained light injuries and 16 escaped unhurt.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Mohd Sani Harul said his department received a distress call at 5.05am and personnel from the Kuala Selangor and Tanjong Karang Fire and Rescue stations were deployed to the scene.
"Earlier, two passengers were stuck under the bus.
"The bus departed from Pasar Seni in Kuala Lumpur and was heading to a jetty in Bagan Datoh. It left at about 3am," he said, adding that all of the passengers were Indonesians.
"The bus was passing along Jalan Klang-Teluk Intan on KM 43 when the driver lost control and the bus skidded and landed in the drain beside the highway," he said.
He further noted that injured passengers were sent to Tanjung Karang and Sungai Buloh Hospital to receive treatment and the rescue operation ended at 7.10am.
