With its young userbase, Snapchat is an interesting proposition for media organisations – but many reporters could find the platform difficult to navigate and its limited editing options a big challenge for storytelling.

To help publishers understand the features in the app and their potential uses for journalism, Paul Bradshaw, who runs the postgraduate course in online journalism at Birmingham City University, published an ebook shedding some light on Snapchat. You can buy it on LeanPub, where it costs a suggested $3.99 (£2.77) – although you can choose to contribute between $1 (£0.70) and $10 (£6.95).

Bradshaw is also publishing some extracts of his first draft of the book, called Snapchat for Journalists, on the Online Journalism Blog.

The guides published so far look at the storytelling possibilities on the platform, the tools and how to build a narrative.
