NJ: Neighborhood solar program proposed

Freshly introduced legislation in New Jersey would establish a “Neighborhood Solar Energy Investment Program” that allows electric customers to invest in off-site solar PV projects, and to receive credits based on their share of generation from the system on their electricity bills. Under A 4762, credits would be provided on a monthly or annual basis, and limited to 100% of a customer’s annual energy needs during the prior year. A 4762 directs the Board of Public Utilities to develop rules for the program, which would be available to residential and non-residential customers, and to promote it.
