A house renovated on season five of TV’s The Block in South Melbourne is back on the market and is expected to sell for more than $1.6 million at auction this weekend.

The Dorcas St property was renovated by Andrew and Mike Jones in season five of the popular reality renovation program, which aired in 2012.  The pair who had a reserve of $966,600 sold the property for just over $1.4m to Energy Watch’s Daniel Wallis.

Director of Hocking Stuart’s Albert Park office David Wood, who will conduct the auction, says he has been getting plenty of interest in the house both from older couples looking to downsize and younger couples looking for more space.

“It’s for those scaling up and those scaling down,” he says.

The property is set over three levels.

“It provides really good accommodation in that location.  It is hard to get a four bedroom, two bathroom home in that area.”

Price wise, he anticipates strong bidding on the day.

“We’re getting quite good interest and we except to have some reasonably strong bidding on Saturday.”

The terrace was extensively renovated in 2012 when it was one of the houses on TV’s The Block.

“We’re suggesting a bit better than $1.6 million.”

The four-bedroom two-bathroom terrace house features entertaining areas including a roof-top terrace, a pit-fire and outdoor area in the paved backyard, feature fireplaces, and stunning modern stone bathrooms.

Located in South Melbourne within walking distance of cafes, restaurants, parks and shops, the median price for the upmarket bayside Melbourne suburb is $1.2 million.

Wood will auction the property at 11am on Saturday April 9.
