PNoy to inspect damage caused by Lando in Aurora
President Benigno Aquino III will visit the town of Casiguran in Aurora province Thursday morning to inspect the damage caused by Typhoon Lando as well as lead the distribution of relief goods to typhoon victims.
Typhoon Lando (international name: Koppu) made landfall in Casiguran around 1 a.m. last Sunday.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), 74 barangays or 4,961 families were affected by the typhoon in the province of Aurora.
Two casualties were reported in the province, one in Casiguran, and the other in Dinalungan. Both died due to multiple injuries, according to the NDRRMC. Nineteen others were injured.
Joining the president in his visit are Secretaries Rogelio Singson (DPWH), Corazon “Dinky” Soliman (DSWD), Proceso Alcala (DA), Janette Garin (DOH), Zenaida Monsada (DOE), and Mel Sarmiento (DILG), as well as Senator Sonny Angara and Aurora Rep. Bella Angara-Castillo.
Upon his arrival, President Aquino is scheduled to conduct an aerial inspection on the damage caused by Lando along Casiguran. He will also be briefed by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council. —Kathrina Charmaine Alvarez/KG, GMA News
