Last year, Netflix was against offering users offline viewing capabilities, but has since noticed “an uneven set of networks” as it expands to other countries.
Not every country has the same network setup as the U.S., which poses a problem for the streaming service if it wants to bring in more people. Currently, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube offer offline viewing, but only for some video content.
As noted by Variety, however, Netflix is probably more concerned with getting its content to those with limited internet access than those with a decent internet connection. Netflix hasn’t said when it could introduce the feature, but its current stance on the matter is better than being told it’ll never happen.
In other Netflix news, the streaming service is increasing the standard streaming prices to $9.99 beginning next month. The change is expected to impact nearly 17 million subscribers. Kyree is a tech news writer for IGN. Follow and talk to him on Twitter @KyreeLeary.
