The Obama Administration decided to allow 10,000 refugees in for the upcoming year. This gets a lot of media attention, however there are millions of refugees and 10,000 is such a small number in that context. Also, it could take two years to even allow a refugee in because of the intense anti-terrorist protocols. With the media focusing of this new development it prevents the actual refugees from being covered, leaving them in the dark. As people drown, a hand clutches the same article Obama is proudly displaying.

The USA is helping the Syrian rebels (rock) against the Syrian government which is being backed by Iran and Russia (paper). While at the same time the USA and the rebels (rock) are against ISIS which is backed by Saudi Arabia (the sword) (scissors). ISIS and Saudi Arabia (scissors) are against the other two sides (rock and paper). The big picture is: the audience doesn't know whether rock, paper, or scissors would end up on top.

This cartoon is a response to Hungary banning the Syrian refugees. Especially now that it is later and colder in the year, winter's advent is causing trouble for them. The refugees don't have anywhere to go and do not know what to do. János Áder, the president of Hungary, is watching them from his side of the border and making this winter tougher on the refugees than it already would have been.

My cartoon is about the education gap between rich and poor students. It displays how there is an inequality in education and how students from a poor background do not have as many opportunities or chances to become successful as students from a wealthy background.

Blind justice is weighing a smoking gun against school books, that are a metaphor for the lives lost in school shootings. The gun is heavier than the books and therefore is deemed more important in today's society. The caption, "Thanks Congress," highlights the fact that no new laws or regulations have been passed since Sandy Hook.

In Donald Trump's presidential campaign, he states how we must stop illegal immigration and remove the aliens from this country in order to "make America great again." While he launches this campaign, he and his supporters seem to forget that the only reason why they are in this country is because their ancestors immigrated here. As they immigrated here, they took away rights, land, and opportunities from Native Americans, which Trump wants to prevent illegal immigrants from doing to existing citizens.
